I had the privilege of attending the final Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Toronto.
It was a deeply moving and historic occasion as we gathered to honour a remarkable shepherd whose faithful service to God, the Church, and the Greek Orthodox community in Canada has spanned more than five decades.
Archbishop Sotirios leaves behind an extraordinary legacy. Through his unwavering leadership, he strengthened the Orthodox faith across Canada, expanded parishes and educational institutions, supported charitable and social initiatives, and inspired generations to preserve their faith, heritage, and values. His guidance reached far beyond the Church, fostering dialogue, civic engagement, and a spirit of service that enriched our broader Canadian society.
As someone who has had the honour of knowing and working alongside His Eminence, I have always admired his wisdom, humility, compassion, and steadfast commitment to both faith and community. His leadership has touched countless lives and has helped shape a stronger, more united Greek Canadian community.
As Archbishop Sotirios begins this new chapter, I offer my heartfelt gratitude for his lifetime of service and wish him a blessed, peaceful, and well-deserved retirement. May God grant him many years of good health, strength, and joy, and may He continue to bless him for the countless lives he has touched.
Thank you, Your Eminence. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
